Layered Coastal Living in Newport

Set atop the hills along the southern California coastline, our Newport Coast Project boasts an indoor/outdoor living experience full of textured layers, earthy colors, and a lived-in sensibility defined by the airy simplicity of coastal living mixed with the classic charm of a traditional European cottage.

Cozy corners are found wherever you turn, with a mix of natural textiles, and a layered color palette of rich yet neutral earth tones. The goal was to create rooms that feel comfortable, yet elevated. Family-friendly, as well as refined.

01 The Great Room

The heart of the home, the great room of our Newport Coast Project features an open concept floor plan that flows between the kitchen and family room. With stonework mirroring itself from the backsplash to the fireplace facade, we created two anchors on either ends of the room that invite you in, encouraging you to move about the space where you’ll find layers of character and charm through the furnishings and decor.

02 Kitchen

The charming kitchen feels both English cottage and California coastal with a mix of vintage pieces and natural accents. The result is a relaxed, yet elevated mix of white oak, natural stone, plaster accents, and a fresh green pop of color.

Set between the kitchen and the family room, this casual eat-in dining area connects the two spaces with its relaxed and easy look & feel. Natural woods, reeded glass, and more stonework connects the zones of the great room across the home.

03 Living Room

With both a family room and living room, the main living space has plenty of space for lounging and entertaining. The statement stone pass-through fireplace connects the two living spaces, giving each a focal point that draws the eye from one end of the home to the other, and furniture with classic silhouettes and relaxed styling keep this family room elevated yet welcoming.

04 Dining Room

The formal dining room feels quite cozy with upholstered dining chairs and plenty of personal touches throughout the space. Connecting to a walk-in pantry in the back corner, it is a highly functional room making entertaining a breeze.

05 Primary Suite

A serene escape, the primary suite feels luxuriously lived-in, with cozy yet casual layers on the bed and vintage touches placed throughout the room. A subtle mix of feminine softness—an upholstered bed, warm lighting—and masculine minimalism—stripped back styling and clean materials—create a retreat that caters to all.

The attached bath features a standalone soaking tub framed by a window with a dramatic view. The two-toned cabinetry in a natural oak and painted gray-green hue create a classic base, where charming accents (fluted stone wainscotting and aged brass finishes) shine.

06 Outdoors

With views for days of the adjacent golf course and coastal views, the backyard features various lounge spaces to take in the scenery and enjoy the California sun (once the marine layer burns off).
