Outdoor Dining in Ojai Oasis by Pure Salt

There’s something about a table set outdoors that feels different.

Meals stretch a little longer. Conversations linger. The rhythm of the day softens as light fades and the air cools.

Outdoor dining isn’t just about where you eat—it’s about how it feels. And when designed thoughtfully, the summer table becomes an extension of the home: layered, inviting, and meant to be lived in.

As part of our 10th Anniversary Collection, we’ve created pieces that bring that experience to life—grounded in natural materials, softened by texture, and designed for gathering.

Outdoor Table Selection

Every outdoor dining space begins with the table.

It’s the anchor—the piece that sets the tone for everything around it. For summer, we’re drawn to tables that feel both substantial and effortless. Natural wood tones, stone-inspired finishes, and simple silhouettes allow the setting to feel grounded without becoming heavy.

Whether it’s a quiet morning coffee or a full evening gathering, the table should feel generous in scale and easy to live with.

Design Tip

Choose a table that works for everyday use, but allows for flexibility in hosting. Extra space invites people to linger.

Outdoor Seating That Invites You to Stay

Comfort is what turns a meal into a moment.

Chairs and benches should feel relaxed and welcoming—never too formal. We often mix materials and silhouettes to create a more collected look: a bench on one side, chairs on the other, all tied together through tone and texture.

The goal is to create a space that feels natural, not overly styled.

Designer Pro Tip: Allow for enough space between seats so guests feel comfortable settling in—outdoor dining should never feel crowded.

Layering the Table

Once the foundation is set, the layering begins.

This is where the table comes to life—through textiles, materials, and small details that add warmth without overwhelming the setting.

We approach the summer table the same way we approach interiors: tonal, textural, and restrained.

Linen is always at the center. A tablecloth or runner softens the surface and creates movement. From there, we layer in stoneware, glass, and simple serving pieces that feel organic and unforced.

Design Tip

Keep the palette neutral and let the materials speak. Summer tables feel best when they aren’t overly coordinated.

Organic Accents

No outdoor table feels complete without something natural.

A simple arrangement—branches, greenery, or loosely gathered florals—adds life and movement. It doesn’t need to be perfect or overly styled. In fact, the more organic it feels, the better.

We often keep arrangements low and unfussy, allowing conversation to flow easily across the table.

Pro Designer Tip:
Use one or two arrangements rather than many—restraint keeps the table feeling calm.

A place to gather. To slow down. To stay a little longer.

The most beautiful outdoor tables aren’t perfect. They’re slightly undone. A linen cloth that moves with the breeze. A glass left behind. A chair pulled out just enough to show that someone was there.

These are the details that make a space feel real.
