Pure Salt’s NYC Travel Guide
A curated New York City escape, the Pure Salt way.
There’s something undeniably inspiring about New York City—its timeless architecture, layered design stories, and energy that invites creativity. For Pure Salt co-founders Aly Morford and Leigh Lincoln, a quick trip to the city becomes more than a getaway—it’s a chance to slow down, refocus, and soak in the thoughtful details of a place known for doing everything just a bit more intentionally.
If you’re planning a trip to the city (or just dreaming of one), here’s a look at how Aly & Leigh do NYC—with their favorite spots to stay, sip, shop, and savor. It’s equal parts relaxed luxury and design-minded discovery—just the way we like it.
Where to Stay
Walker Hotel Greenwich Village
Nestled on a quiet block just off 6th Avenue, this boutique hotel is full of character—refined but cozy, warm and welcoming with a historic edge. The interiors are moody in the best way, with Art Deco-inspired details and thoughtful finishes that feel curated, not overdone.
“We love a hotel that tells a story—and Walker feels like it’s been part of the neighborhood forever.”
Where to Eat & Sip
Brunch Favorites
- Boucherie West Village – A beautiful space with brass finishes, aged wood, and French charm. Order the classic croque or a pastry board to share.
- Popup Bagels – A must for morning bites on the go. Classic New York with a modern twist.
Drinks & Atmosphere
- Dante NYC – An iconic apéritif bar with European energy and a list of Negroni variations that’s hard to beat.
- Le Petit Village – Cozy, candlelit, and ideal for late-afternoon cocktails before dinner. Feels like a secret even when it’s not.
Dinner Done Right
- La Mercerie – A design-lover’s dream. Located inside Roman and Williams Guild, the interiors are as layered and elevated as the menu. You’ll want to linger here. (And shop after dinner.)
“Dinner at La Mercerie is the kind of experience that reminds us how design and hospitality go hand-in-hand—it’s what we aim to create in every project.”
Where to Shop & Wander
This trip was about inspiration, and Aly & Leigh curated their shopping stops with that in mind—classic NYC with a hint of French countryside and plenty of vintage charm.
- Roman and Williams Guild – Artisan-made pieces, beautiful lighting, and textures galore.
- Le Fanion – A tiny, treasure-filled vintage shop in the West Village. French pottery, antique glassware, and the kinds of things that feel like they’ve lived a life already.
- Left Bank Books – For coffee table books, rare finds, and the kind of quiet browsing that feels like a creative reset.
- Via Carota – Technically a trattoria, but the interior design alone is worth stopping for. Even a peek inside is inspiring.
- Buck Mason – For elevated basics that never go out of style. (Yes, even a design trip includes wardrobe must-haves.)
Pure Salt Tip: Let the City Set the Pace
Every time we travel, we’re reminded that inspiration doesn’t always come from planned moments. It’s found in a shadow on a tile floor, the curve of an iron railing, the feeling of walking a quiet street in the morning light.
Our advice? Don’t overschedule. Wander. Sit. Observe. That’s where the real design magic begins.
