Tucked beneath the eaves of our Coastal Connecticut Project, the Attic Suite tells a story all its own—one of calm, intention, and quiet luxury. While the rest of the home opens wide to the Atlantic views, this retreat draws inward, offering a softer, more intimate interpretation of coastal living.

It’s a space that leans into its charm—rather than treating its unique angles and scale as limitations, the design team embraced them fully. The result is a cozy, layered suite that feels deeply personal and artfully refined.

A Study in Scale and Simplicity

The Attic Suite is a masterclass in how to work with what a space gives you. Vaulted ceilings slope gently downward, guiding the eye toward custom millwork, built-in storage, and cozy nooks that make the most of every inch. Rather than fight the architecture, the design leans into it—adding paneling for warmth, built-ins for function, and carefully selected lighting to keep the space feeling open and airy.

The mood is part cottage, part coastal, entirely thoughtful.

A custom daybed anchors one end of the room, dressed in softened neutrals and muted plaids that lend a nostalgic yet elevated feel. It’s the kind of place that invites lingering: a late-afternoon read, a morning cup of coffee, or simply a pause from the pace of daily life. Whether used as a guest space or a reading retreat, it’s versatile, welcoming, and quietly special.

Designed with Atmosphere in Mind

What sets this attic retreat apart is the attention to mood over motif. This isn’t a space that shouts “beach house”—instead, it whispers. Coastal inspiration shows up in the textures and tones: woven sconces, brass hardware, linen fabrics, and sun-washed palettes all work in harmony to create an environment that feels effortlessly relaxed.

Large picture windows pull the water views directly into the room, casting soft light throughout the day and enhancing the natural textures within. It’s coastal living not through theme, but through atmosphere. Every element was chosen for how it makes the space feel—calm, cozy, and grounded.

“This suite is about comfort that doesn’t try too hard. We wanted it to feel like a hidden gem—quiet, personal, and completely in tune with the rest of the home.”

A Space That Speaks Softly

In a home defined by sweeping ocean views and expansive gathering spaces, the Attic Suite offers contrast in the best way. It’s a reminder that coastal design can be subtle. That smaller spaces can carry big impact. And that the most beautiful rooms are often the ones that feel the most personal.

As part of the broader Coastal Connecticut project, this tucked-away retreat is a perfect expression of Pure Salt’s design ethos: thoughtful details, natural materials, and spaces that honor the people who live in them.
