Primary Suite bedroom in Coastal Connecticut by Pure Salt

Nestled beneath the Atlantic sky and perched along Connecticut’s storied coastline, the Coastal Connecticut Project is a masterclass in quiet luxury and timeless design. While every space in this oceanfront residence reflects a deep connection to nature and thoughtful craftsmanship, the primary suite serves as its most personal sanctuary—soft, restorative, and tailored to its setting.

Designing for Stillness

This suite was imagined as a retreat. A place to start the day slowly, linger a little longer, and feel a deeper sense of calm. The design leans into the natural rhythm of its surroundings, using color, texture, and tone to frame the expansive water views that unfold just beyond the windows.

The palette is intentionally restrained: muted neutrals and soft, cool coastal tones create visual serenity without distraction. Linen and cotton layers invite restfulness. Painted paneling adds subtle dimension. Light flows effortlessly through the space, dancing across carefully chosen materials and creating a sense of airiness and movement.

Mood Over Motif

While the home is deeply coastal, the suite avoids overt beach references or nautical themes. Instead, it communicates its setting through mood: tranquil, airy, organic. This is a hallmark of Pure Salt’s design philosophy—allowing a home’s environment to speak through feeling rather than cliché.

Woven elements, warm woods, and thoughtfully scaled furnishings add soul and softness. The design choices feel intuitive—like they’ve always belonged to the space. And while the suite is luxurious in detail, it never feels fussy. Instead, it invites barefoot mornings, late-afternoon sun, and uninterrupted connection with nature.

"Designed as a quiet meditation on material and place—an invitation to slow down, observe, and live with the beauty of the natural world."

Aly & Leigh, Co-Founders

The Bath

The adjoining bath mirrors the same design language: plaster walls, honed stone, patinated brass, and light that seems to glow from within. It’s a seamless extension of the bedroom’s aesthetic—rooted in simplicity, rich in materiality, and crafted for everyday use with grace and ease.

A Final Word

In the Coastal Connecticut primary suite, Pure Salt’s philosophy comes to life: thoughtful design shaped by nature, layered with care, and tailored to how life is really lived. It’s a place to pause, exhale, and truly feel at home.
